Dr. Denis Stairs (Canada) is a distinguished academic in the field of political science and international studies. In his capacity as an educator, he has contributed greatly to the understanding of Canada and its role in international relations. A Rhodes Scholar from Dalhousie University, Stairs has been teaching at his alma mater in various positions since 1966. He has been the Director of the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies as well as Chair of the Department of Political Science, and is currently the Vice-President (Academics and Research) of that institution. Dr. Stairs has been Director of the Atlantic Council of Canada since 1979, and has been a member of the Research Council of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research since 1986. He is also a member of the Canadian Institute of International Affairs.
