Kanan Makiya

Kanan Makiya was born and raised in Iraq. He is the author of two previous books, Republic of Fear and The Monument, both published under the pseudonym Samir Al-Khalil, out of concern for his safety. Cruelty and Silence is the first that appears under his own name.
